Here we are at the Memorial Day Weekend and you know what that means? State and local police will be out and about more, so be safe! Here's the OPD's official news release from Sergeant J.D. Winkler:

"As part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2014 campaign, "Click It or Ticket", the Owensboro Police Department will be placing extra Patrol Officers on the streets with the specific task of looking for seatbelt violations. The addistional enforcement patrols will take place (now) until June 17, 2014.

Additionally, Officers will be vigilant over the holiday weekend looking for impaired drivers. The Owensboro Police Department's goal is that everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

Remember, it is mandatory in Kentucky to wear your seatbelt, so keep this simple message in mind...CLICK IT OR TICKET!"
