Owensboro Sales Team Expands

Global Spectrum, the management company for the new Owensboro Convention Center, has announced the promotion of a current employee as well as the hiring of two new employees.

Laura Alexander has been promoted to the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Owensboro Convention Center. Laura was hired in March of 2012 as the Sales Manager for the Convention Center and was promoted to Director in September 2012. Laura will oversee all sales and marketing aspects of the convention center as well as focus on booking state and national conferences, conventions and events.

Brandy Dant of Owensboro, KY has been hired as the Sales Manager of the Owensboro Convention Center.  In this role, Brandy’s primary focus will be to work with local businesses to accommodate their banquet, meeting, and conferencing needs.  Dant will also work with brides and grooms to create their special wedding day at the Owensboro Convention Center.  Brandy has over seven years of sales experience with three years dedicated to corporate accounts.

Doris Sparks, also a native of Owensboro, KY, has joined the Owensboro Convention Center team as the Event and Sponsorship Manager. Doris’s responsibilities will include creating and promoting special events, managing trade shows and various other events, as well as soliciting sponsorships for events. Sparks has over eleven years of experience in both trade show development as well as business marketing in the Owensboro and Evansville areas. Doris is a previous downtown business owner and previously served on the board of Downtown Owensboro Inc.

The new facility is currently under construction and scheduled to open early 2014. The multi-purpose facility will feature a 45,000 (+) sq. foot exhibit hall and an additional 47,000 (+) sq. feet of meeting and banquet space which includes two ballrooms. The Owensboro Convention Center plans to hire several more full time positions throughout 2013.
