It's hard to believe that it's been nearly a year since we lost Nicky Hayden. A huge loss for Owensboro and a huge loss for a fan base that spanned the globe.

We've just learned that the Hayden family has partnered with the City of Owensboro for the unveiling of a sculpture to honor Nicky.

In a press release from the city, the family was quoted as saying,

"Although Nicky spent most of the year traveling around the world, there was no other place that he loved more than his hometown. Where he came from was very important to him, and he took great pride in representing Owensboro in a positive way. We would like to thank the City for their support in this project and we hope everyone can join us for this very special event.”

The sculpture will be unveiled on Friday, June 8th at 5:30PM, during Friday After Five.

The sculpture's permanent home will be at 501 W. 2nd Street and the public is invited to come and pay tribute to the "Kentucky Kid."
