Earlier this year during our St. Jude Radiothon, we introduced you to St. Jude patient, Adam. This amazing young man was the inspiration behind this year's St. Jude song, "Brave." And that's exactly what he is. While battling leukemia, Adam completed a half marathon, finished and graduated high school and created an army of supporters who have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for St. Jude. And Jaclyn and I were humbled and honored that he showed up at St. Jude this morning to join us at the starting line for Sweatin' for St. Jude, our 300-mile bike ride to create awareness and raise funds for kids just like Adam. He is the pure definition of bravery.
As you all know, the last two years, Jaclyn and Chad helped raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with an event called Sweatin' for St. Jude. And, on two different occasions, we walked/ran 50 miles on side-by-side treadmills at the Owensboro Family YMCA. Well, this year, Chad and Jac are going even bigger. They are IN Memphis right now awaiting their fate...
I can't believe we're heading out for Memphis in less than 18 hours, but we are... Sweatin' For St. Jude 2016 is here! This year, Chad and I wanted to go bigger than ever and I think we're going to do it! We are biking from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis back to Owensboro in FOUR days! Yes, we have have lost our minds, but y'all know we'll do anything for the sick babies! So, how can YOU help?!?
We are just a couple of days away from Sweatin' for St. Jude 2016, our 300-mile bike ride from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis to downtown Owensboro! And, yesterday, Jaclyn and I (along with our buddy Tim Ross) appeared with Ange Humphrey on WEHT's Local Lifestyles to talk about Sweatin' and Owensboro's Moonlight Ride!
It just got real! As you all know, the last two years, Jaclyn and I helped raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with an event called Sweatin' for St. Jude. And, on two different occasions, we walked/ran 50 miles on side-by-side treadmills at the Owensboro Family YMCA. Well, this year, we're going even bigger. And, two weeks from today, our journey begins in Memphis!
It's almost time for the Moonlight Ride in downtown Owensboro to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital! This will be the third year bikers and riders will be gathering to ride all over city and help kids like Ben Halbig. Take a look!
I always have a difficult time when I sit down to write a story like this. It's hard to see the computer screen and the keys of the keyboard through the tears. There's absolutely nothing more heartwarming than kids helping kids. And, well, these kids have done it again. Last year, Ava and Addy Riggs wanted to raise money for the children of St. Jude. And they did. This year, they decided to do it again and, thanks to a big old birthday party at the movies in Tell City, the kiddos raised an astounding amount money with the help of their friends.
I knew I forgot something over those couple days. I was just scrolling through our videos on YouTube and Rollie Pike Showed up out of no where and I immediately remembered that I never got around to putting this video up on the website after his performance at the WBKR St. Jude Radiothon. He was with us for the Radiothon early in the month and he laid down an amazing song called "Just Keep Praying." Listen to it here.
