WBKR Celebrates National Read Across America Day at Newton Parrish Elementary [Video]

Today is National Read Across America Day and I decided to spend the morning in the library at Newton Parrish Elementary School.  While I was there, Pancake Patty Moore (who's the librarian at the school) rounded up some students and we recited the National Read Across America Day oath.  Check this out!

Gavin Howard Selling St. Jude T-Shirts Friday at Shoe Stop [Photos]

Last year, during the WBKR St. Jude Radiothon, Gavin Howard, of Knottsville, Kentucky, made a whopping presentation to our tote board.  He brought in an envelope containing $12,000!  He made that money selling t-shirts he designed.  This year, Gavin has been at it again.  And, this year, he has a brand new design.

Jason Koger’s Amazing Story: In His Own Words

The photo you are looking at it probably just looks like a field to you.  But to Jason Koger it is much, much more.  It's a field that harvests amazing memories from childhood and tragic memories from adulthood.  Here at WBKR, we absolutely love Jason Koger.  He is walking proof that tragedy doesn't have to make you a victim.  No.  He's proof that, if you put your mind and, more importantly, your soul into it, you can pick yourself up from anything, dust yourself off and live better today than you did the day before.  On Sunday morning, Jason posted the photo above on Facebook and shared some amazing words of reflection and wisdom.  I suggest that you take a few minutes and read this.  Jason's words are as powerful as his story and that story will move and inspire you.
