Thousands of people visited the Owensboro Sportscenter this past weekend for carnival rides, hamster balls, funnel cakes, hamburgers, Pet Parades, talent contests, games and more. WBKR morning guy, Chad Benefield, visited PUMPKINFEST on opening day and brought along Whitney the Intern to give you a guys a sample of what the annual festival has to offer! So, come along! We're going to give you an entertaining overview of the festival, then sample some of the goodies . . . like funnel cakes, German Roasted Nuts and more!

Late Night Animal Planet Rocks My World…and Creeps Me Out
July 25, 2011 I have inadvertently developed a late-night ritual. It's called Animal Planet. Yeah, it's been there for a while, but when I'm winding down, it's the only channel that makes me put down the remote control. Whether it's a show about mysterious and dangerous creatures that exist on our planet, mysterious and dangerous creatures that exist in this country but shouldn't, or mythical and dangerous creatures that are rumored to exist but probably really don't, I have become a huge fan of not-ready-for-prime-time Animal Planet.

July 17, 2011 Can we go ahead and mark it down? 2011 is one of the worst weather years I can ever remember. Record winter cold, tornadoes, floods, and now this heat! I might have included last week's extraordinary and national-headline-making heat reading in my recent post about the worst storms I've ever experienced, except for the fact that a heat wave doesn't qualify. But it does qualify when the categories are "discomfort" and "dangerous."

The children and myself have been having a great time with fun indoor activities hosted by the Daviess County Public Library throughout this Summer and I highly reccommend you stop in and take advantage yourself.

For those of you who know me, you know that I love animals and basically claim to be Ace Ventura. All of my pets are rescues and I am currently proud papa to 2 dogs and 1 cat. Dolly is a Bichon Frise who is ALWAYS up in a brother's grill. My cat, Oprah, is deaf (which probably comes in rather handy. My dogs are obnoxious and, let's be honest, I wrote the book on boisterous). And Wilma is my rescued standard schnauzer with separation anxiety and a wide variety of other mental health disorders. I don't really know much about where Wilma came from. She's a strikingly beautiful pooch . . . but a total basket case. I like to refer to her as Kibbles and Fits! To give you guys a sneak peak into the life of one of my neurotic four-pawed children, I decided to share with you WILMA'S FIVE FAVORITE PLACES TO GO!
