Got a phone call Tuesday from a listener who tipped me off to a YouTube video that features Vince Gill, in his seventh heaven, playing an old Les Paul guitar on stage in Macon, Georgia in 2011.

I love stuff like this. I'm always looking for good videos on YouTube and I never would have thought to look for this. Why would I? The reason this performance was so special to Vince is because that '57 Les Paul belonged to none other than the late, legendary Duane Allman.

It was this guitar, in fact, that Allman played on the rock classic "Layla" by Derek and the Dominoes.

Now, the vocals in this video aren't always prominent, but the guitar work definitely is. And there aren't many who are better at playing the guitar than Hall-of-Famer Vince Gill.

Excellent stuff.
