Phone Scam in Area Trying to Rob You of Your Precious Dollars

There is a new phone scam going on and you need to know about it.

An anonymous caller told me today she had been reached by someone claiming to be with the Federal Government.

They wanted to give her a $9,000 grant!Sure.

And, they called her on her cell phone, not a landline.

Here is how it went down.

They told her she was an outstanding citizen. One who paid taxes, voted, had good credit.

Because of that the Home and Health Sciences was awarding her a grant.

All she had to do was go to a CVS or Walgreens and deposit a good-faith, refundable security of $280 using a Green-Dot Money-Pak. Well, that's a scam. You can see how busy they are.

They told her to check with the Better Business Bureau or the F.B.I. She did and they told her it's a scam. They also suggested she call WBKR and let us know to alert you.

Don't fall for these varmint's traps.
