Check your medicine cabinet - a major pharmaceutical company is recalling the generic form of Lipitor - one of the most commonly used medications to control cholesterol.

Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals has issued a voluntary recall of selected lots of 10mg, 20mg and 40mg generic Lipitor, also known as Atorvastatin. The recall effects those pills packaged in 90 and 500 count bottles. The recall does not include 80mg Atorvastatin.

Ranbaxy issued the recall of generic Lipitor as a precaution when routine safety testing discovered some batches of the medication could contain small particles of glass. You can find a complete listing of the batches included in the recall by clicking this link or checking with your local pharmacy.
