Randy Travis Hospitalized and in Critical Condition

Country music legend has been admitted to a Texas hospital and is listed in critical condition, according to a Nashville public relations and marketing firm.

Travis was hospitalized on Sunday, July 7th, due to complications from viral cardiomyopathy.  Wisegeek.com defines the condition as a viral infection of the heart which causes a weakening of the organ and prevents it from working as well as it should. According to the website, the prognosis is variable depending on the severity of the condition.

Further details about Travis’s condition have not been made available.
