It's been 14 years and 3 coaches since the Kentucky Wildcats last hoisted the gold trophy. On center stage in New Orleans' Superdome last night, they did it again:

You'd think shooting 27 percent in the second half of any game would be a dealbreaker. Not last night. Kentucky's defense matched the Jayhawks. You'd think Anthony Davis scoring only 6 points in the final game would be a dealbreaker. Not last night. He collected 16 rebounds, had 6 blocks and 5 assists and was name Most Outstanding Player. Even when they weren't very good, UK seemed to be...well, very good.

Kentucky 67, Kansas 59. The 'Cats won two Final Four games by 8 points each. Coach Calipari went with an 8-man rotation. They've won 8 titles. Four of those titles came in 1948, 1958, 1978, and 1998. I guess there's a new lucky number in Big Blue Nation.
