Saturday Night Live Opens With Newtown Tribute [VIDEO]
For 38 seasons, the opening sketch has been a Saturday Night Live trademark. But on the December 15th, 2012, plans had to be altered.
The show opened with a tribute to the 28 children and adults who were murdered Friday morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
The tribute came in the form of a performance of "Silent Night" by the New York City Children's Chorus, who then gave the familiar show opening.
