Last night, I started going through my three-day Memorial Day weekend bucket list with my daughter. I want to squeeze in as many activities as I can into our short break/long weekend. Here's what's on my hot sheet:

Friday Night

Expose the kids to some Old School, a classic Pop Rock / R & B / Motown / Funk cover band that plays all the stuff you grew up listening to in the 70s and 80s. Or out of Ashville, NC, “The Fritz” is a five piece rock band that likes to get funky!  Carefully weaving the band’s personality into each song, the band sets tonight to music and promises to fire up the Party Pier crowd.

While you are in downtown Owensboro, visit the Faces of Our Heroes Veterans Tribute @ Owensboro Convention Center. As part of the activities for the 2015 Memorial Day Weekend, the City of Owensboro is inviting the public to share the stories of family and friends who served in the US military through a unique memorial display. ‘Faces of our Heroes’ is an opportunity to honor veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice. A special pictorial tribute will be carefully created inside the Owensboro Convention Center with photos and information for veterans from our region that were killed in the line of duty or have passed away following their time of service in our US military. Faces of our Heroes will be on display at the Owensboro Convention Center beginning Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25, 2015.

Saturday Morning

With temps in the 70s and 80s this weekend, I thought I'd take my girl for a nature hike. I couldn't do anything too hard since she's still little so I researched alltrails.com and found one that was only a couple miles.

Saturday Night

The Holiday Drive-In, located 3 miles West of Rockport at the Jct. of 161 & 66 in Reo IN., is open every night but I think we'll hit this Saturday night since it's supposed to be warm and not raining. We grab a bucket of fried chicken, some pillows and blankets and head out.

Sunday Morning

With breathtaking landscapes, a museum and nature center and some fun stuff for the kids, this place is a great place to picnic after church on a Sunday. There's also trails if you aren't too tuckered out from the night before. There's also lodging if you want to give the kids a camping experience.

Sunday Night

Florence Freedom v the Otters starts at 5:05 PM. Family fun for a reasonable price! And, who doesn't love a ballgame?

Monday Morning

Downtown Henderson Kentucky has one of the largest displays of crosses honoring those who have died who have served our country in military service. Join the Henderson War Memorial Foundation  for the Memorial Day Ceremony in Central Park located in Downtown Henderson on May 25, 2015 at 10:00 am.
