Sad news in the music world today. British Blues singer Joe Cocker has died of lung cancer at the age of 70.

Cocker grew up listening to Ray Charles, one of his biggest influences, and he scored his first major hit in 1969 with a cover of The Beatles "With a Little Help from My Friends" which was later used in the opening credits for the ABC show The Wonder Years. His next big hit and a signature song, "You Are So Beautiful" was released in 1974. Cocker won a Grammy and an Oscar in 1983 for his duet with Jennifer Warnes, "Up Where We Belong" from the An Officer and a Gentleman soundtrack.
