We all knew 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' would be a box office blockbuster not seen in a long time, but just how big? In just 10 days, it has grossed more than $1 billion. It's a record and it's crazy.

Going by worldwide box-office grosses of all time, 'The Force Awakens' is currently in 15th place and rising. In 2015 alone, three films have grossed more worldwide than 'Star Wars'; 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', 'Minions' (which is still playing in some theaters), and 'Jurassic World', which is currently third all-time. 'Avatar' remains the worldwide champ with nearly $2.8 billion; 'Titanic is second at almost $2.2. billion.

As of now, 'The Force Awakens' is in fifth place in biggest grossing films in the US of all-time. Considering how little time it took to get to $500 million, it only has to take in $250 million+ to surpass US box office champ, 'Avatar'.

Now if you want to get really specific with box office totals adjusted for inflation, the all-time champ is the 1939 epic 'Gone With The Wind' with (2014 inflation numbers) $3,440,000,000, incredible. When it was released, the Great Depression still wasn't over.
