It seems like more stores are leaving Downtown Owensboro every month so we decided to see how many vacant buildings there are. It's startling to see this happening in our community.

Big news in the World of Bluegrass Music this week and I was blessed to be there for all of the excitement. The International Bluegrass Music Museum and Hall of Fame broke ground on the much anticipated $15.4 million facility right next to the Hampton Inn in downtown Owensboro.

Plans have been announced for two new restaurants in downtown Owensboro. And one of them will be a full scale Salsarita's Fresh Cantina.

A brand new restaurant is opening Thursday morning in downtown Owensboro.  Another Broken Egg Cafe, which is situated inside the lobby at the brand new Holiday Inn Owensboro Riverfront, is ready to hatch.  And, yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet the owner, manager, staff and sample some of the selections on the menu.  And, let me tell you, I had an amazing time visiting the nest!  And I have

Being the new emcee of Rooster Booster definitely has its perks.  And, this morning, I found out some exciting news about downtown Owensboro.  We're getting a Mellow Mushroom!

The official ribbon-cutting for the new brand new Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Owensboro is set for 10am on Saturday, February 1st and will take place in conjunction with the grand opening celebration at the Owensboro Convention Center.  Wanna sneak peak inside the brand new hotel?  Here are some of the expected highlights . . .

The public is getting its first official look at the newly redesigned and reopened Smothers Park this weekend.  The park was officially unveiled last night during a special edition of Friday After Five!  Today, folks are invited downtown to see the new park, then turn their eyes to the sky!  The Owensboro Air Show is ready to soar into action!!

This is pretty neat.  In an effort to help get folks to the ever-growing and ever-evolving downtown portion of Owensboro to experience the charms and allure of unique downtown businesses and restaurants, Steve Champion has followed a trend taking place in larger cities across the United States.  And his version of "Downtown Date Night" is getting more and more popular here in Owensboro.
