Willie is bringing his Willie Nelson & Family tour to town and we have been celebrating over the last couple of months with ticket giveaways and more. A few weeks ago, we had a TAD POLL about Willie during The WBKR Waking Crew. And that poll was . . . What is YOUR favorite Willie Nelson song? I don't have to hesitate a second to name mine. It's Willie's classic "Always on My Mind." And, I must say, there are several versions of that song I absolutely love. While Brenda Lee recorded the original version, it's a handful of covers that are on my mind. Check these out.

I was just 5 years old when Elvis passed away on this day August 16th, 1977 that was a sad day across America. I had probably 100 Elvis cards, not knowing then it wasn't a good idea to glue them all to a piece of plywood ha ha. I have been a fan of Elvis all my life, there will never be another entertainer like him! His merchandise still sells like hot cakes 34 years after his death, and you name it just about anything & everything has had Elvis's picture on it. I did a search on Ebay and over 63,000 items of Elvis popped up, or go to Google and just type in Elvis Presley and the result over 66 million sites found, and Elvis even has a Facebook page with over 4 million friends, that is unbelievable!

Today in Memphis, Tennessee, ElvisPresley fans from all over the world to gather and remember "the King" (of Rock and Roll) during Elvis week.

I have always thought the anniversary of his death was an odd time to celebrate, rather than say his birthday, which is January 8. Oh, that explains it -- January versus August. I also think the original vigil that occurred spontaneously in August of 1977 contributed to the eventual annual event.

Roberts Stadium has been a landmark in Evansville since 1956 with visits from Presidents, Elvis Presley, WWE, monster trucks, baskeball games, rodeos, The Harlem Globetrotters, boxing, superstars like Garth Brooks was there in the 90's & WBKR played a major part Garth being there, I've seen Hank Williams Jr. numerous times at Roberts Stadium.
