For over 150 years First Christian Church in Owensboro has been a big part of the downtown landscape, but that all changed on March 18th, 2013 when a fire destroyed the church, but not the congregation. To say that Owensboro's First Christian Church has its share of fans is an enormous understatement. The city's oldest church was destroyed by fire a month ago, leaving many without a church home and many more still, lamenting the loss of one of the community's most beautiful structures.

Last Monday, March 18th, the First Christian Church in Owensboro caught fire. Sunday, March 25th, a juvenile is reported to have started small fires inside the church. Here is more information, via the OPD.

I did not attend First Christian Church growing up, nor have I ever been inside of it. But, hearing about the fire this morning, my heart was broken for everyone that had.
