As Halloween fast approaches, I keep remembering how it used to be, when I was a kid. Out of necessity, that has gone by the wayside. We live in a much creepier and less safe society. And, I suppose every generation can legitimately make that claim. But, those were the days.
I got a text from my sister suggesting I Google "2009 Halloween Light Show in HD." I landed on the coolest thing I've ever seen regarding Halloween. I've seen a LOT more Halloween decorations in recent years, but this takes the cake
Precious Blood Catholic Church is cooking up Halloween-themed fun for the weekend! The church is hosting a Halloween Trivia Night and Silent Auction Saturday, October 29 and the fun starts at 6pm inside the Precious Blood Parish Hall, 3306 Fenmore Street in Owensboro! I will be there serving as emcee . . . and WBKR is bringing a table full of players with their eyes on the trivia prize!
Back in 2001, when Chad Benefield and I started The Screening Room on our sister station WOMI, we immediately compiled a list of our ten favorite horror movies since Halloween was right around the corner at the time. I've tinkered with it over the years, having re-watched them all, and have arrived at my official 5 Scariest Movies Ever Made.
The WBKR/Halloween Havoc Road War is Saturday, October 22nd! And lots of teams will be on hand trying to conquer tha "scariest road trip in town" in an attempt to win the grand prize of $1,000.00! The "road warriors" who have competed before know exactly what to expect from the event, but we have been getting alot of questions at the station from folks who are interested in doing it for the first time! So, Jaclyn and I decided that we would climb in the WBKR van with some of the clues from the very first Halloween Havoc Road War and show you how it's done! Watch as Jaclyn, who was loaded up on Benadryl by the way, tries to figure out the clues! She'll show you how it's done!!
HALLOWEEN HAVOC is again the proud sponsor of our annual WBKR Road War, a city-wide, Halloween-themed "scavenger hunt" that offers teams a chance to win $1,000! Each year, for that event, Halloween Havoc outfits the WBKR staff so we can man (or woman) the checkpoints on the Road War course in style. So, Jaclyn and I decided that we would go to the store and do a Halloween fashion show. That way, you guys can see some of the awesome and scary costumes Halloween Havoc has to offer. And, because I am a good uncle (or a glutton for punishment and torture) , I suggested that little Jaclyn Jr. (a.k.a. Carsyn) come along for the ride. Well, little Rosemary's Baby was in quite a mood!
As Halloween draws closer, you see more & more parents out shopping for Halloween costumes and loading up on candy for the trick-or-treaters...This year still a very popular costume is "Harry Potter" and superhero's like "Superman" & "Spiderman" are always a hit. You can find costumes for just about anything and everything like occupational, animal, bugs, adult costumes and so much more. Tell us what you or your kids are going to be this year on our WBKR Facebook page?!?! HAPPY HALLOWEEN - BOO!!!
Scary movies don't scare me, but scary TV? That's a little different. Leave it to the powers that be to premiere two creepy, and sometimes, bloody shows in October. It's brilliant marketing with oh yeah Halloween just around the corner. Not only are these series chilling, but they are really good and really fascinating to watch.
