When I got settled in at work this morning, I had an email from a listener. Here's what it said:

"I'm not sure if this has been addressed or noticed but you are taking one heck of a beating on (a forum/chat website)! I was just wanting to let you know before it gets way out of hand! So if you would take a look ASAP and hopefully you can say what you have to say! This is Owensboro and I know how one rumor can ruin your whole career and/or life!"

Now, I think most of us can guess what site this ridiculousness is on, but I don't promote adolescent behavior and I won't start now.

Needless to say, I am not at all happy about this.

Trunnell's Family Fun Acre is open and they've added some really fun new attractions this year to help youngsters "learn, play and grow!" On Tuesday, WBKR got a jump start on the 2012 CMA Music Festival by heading down to Nashville for The Grand Ole Opry's annual Opry Plaza Party. As it is every year during our broadcast, Carrie Underwood's official Fan Club Party was going on inside and hundreds of devoted Carrie fans were there for a special meet-and-greet and private concert performance. After the party ended, those fans stormed the Opry plaza and we had the chance to meet them, chat and take a look at their souvenirs. It turns out, some of Carrie's biggest fans are from right here in the tri-state! Check this out!

If you tuned into WBKR over the weekend, you were likely introduced to our new radio friend, Fern Lulham. As you learned, Fern is originally from Hastings, England, but came to the United States to study radio broadcasting at Western Carolina University. She is making her rounds at radio stations around the country and happened to stop in Owensboro during this city's busiest event, The International BBQ Festival. So, naturally, Jaclyn and I couldn't let Fern leave our fine city without sampling our famous BBQ mutton. Watch what happened when Fern got to meet our buddy, Jerry Morris and the gang from St. Mary's of the Woods cooking team.

Striking Similarities Between Carrie's "Blown Away" and Jaclyn's "Sirens"

This happens pretty frequently. A star releases a song that sounds so incredibly similar to another that suspicions and eyebrows are raised. Most recently, this happened to Dierks Bentley with his song "Home." A singer-songwriter named Jason Isbell started pointing fingers and claiming that Bentley and company lifted the chorus of their hit single from his song, "In A Razor Town." Here at WBKR, we listened to both tracks on air and you cannot deny the similarities. Dierks' chorus for "Home" sounds JUST LIKE Jason's for "In A Razor Town." Like I said, this kind of thing happens all the time. Sometimes, sadly, it happens intentionally. Other times it occurs purely by coincidence. Each time, it's nearly impossible to tell. And, thankfully, it had never happened to us. Until now . . .

My Running Anniversary

After my run yesterday, I was stretching and noticed my shoes had torn. Yep, I'd actually worn out my running shoes! Wow, I never thought that I would do that...ever!

Then, I got to thinking and realized that it's been almost a year since I took up running. I still shutter to call myself a "runner", but I'm getting closer. And, oddly enough, I really enjoy it!
