After Saturday night's Final Four loss to Wisconsin, the Kentucky Wildcats have been fielding a lot of questions. Many of them revolve around the NBA Draft.
I absorb as much information as I possibly can about college hoops during its 5-month-long season. Seriously, I'm no casual fan. I'm the guy who'll finish up the Gonzaga/BYU game if it's playing into the wee hours. (And they often do.)
So something really idiotic is being floated around in college basketball. I mean...stupid. Incomprehensible. It's a practice that hasn't been in play in decades. And it should never return.
I think the platoon system is a nice idea. But I feel that, more than anything, it simply represents what a deep team Kentucky has. You'd have to have EVERYTHING go exactly your way to do five-in/five-out during the entire length of a game.
First of all, this needs a little set-up. Recently, Syracuse head basketball coach Jim Boeheim mentioned that UK coach John Calipari had complained about a recruiting edge Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski had gained coaching USA Basketball.
University of Kentucky Basketball Coach John Calipari pretty much does things his way. He's known for his non-apologetic acceptance of "one and done" basketball and even recruits players with that mindset. Now, along with helping young kids reach their dreams of playing in the NBA, he's giving them an incredible opportunity.

Yeah, I put it in quotes but I don't who or if anyone said it. Surely, someone must have at some point.
In John Calipari's five seasons at the helm of the University of Kentucky basketball program, the coach has been through quite a lot, professionally. But also, personally.

John Calipari has been making the rounds in support of his new book Players First: Coaching from the Inside Out. His Tuesday stops in Owensboro and Bowling Green were followed Wednesday by a trip to New York.
I've never been to a book-signing before, but if any author out there is approaching such an event for the first time or hasn't quite gotten the hang of it, talk to UK coach John Calipari.
The post-season carnival is loaded with fun rides, but none more fun--ever--than at the University of Kentucky. Ever since John Calipari hopped out of the cab in Lexington five years ago, annual speculation about his NEXT career opportunity has been rampant.
Excitement is building around the country as four teams get set for the Final Four at AT&T Stadium in NorthTexas/Arlington/Dallas-Ft. Worth/the Metroplex (pick one...it'll work).
