Our 10th annual WBKR St. Jude Radiothon presented by Poole's Pharmacy Care is coming up Thursday and Friday, February 21st and 22nd. And, again, we have many local celebrities and musicians joining us to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. C & H Entertainment is bringing country megastar Clint Black to the Muhlenberg County Ag & Convention Center Thursday, May 17th! He has sold over 20 million albums, has over 20 Number One hit singles and is an established actor. The show also features local favorites Mudd River Union and Scott Lindsey and country comedian Tom Mabe.

WBKR and Poole's Pharmacy Care St. Jude Radiothon's 5 p.m. hour featured Mudd River Union. They performed a rousing rendition of SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW and a new tune, LOVE LIKE A CHILD, that they wrote in honor of today's St. Jude Radiothon. It will be available on I-Tunes shortly and all proceeds will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Last Saturday's BIG O MUSIC FEST was awesome and WBKR was proud to have MUDD RIVER UNION open the show! MUDD RIVER won our big talent contest, The Battle For The Big O, and earned the right to take the stage and kick-off the festival that included Sarah Darling, Steve Holy, David Nail, Jake Owen, Colt Ford, Chris Young and Dierks Bentley! Jaclyn and I caught up with the Muhlenberg-county-based band backstage to see if they were ready to take the stage! When we did, we also caught up with Jenny Beth Willis, lead singer of Straight Laced, who wowed the crowd with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem!

MUDD RIVER UNION: Battle For The Big O Champs!

The finale of the Battle for the Big O took place Saturday night at Diamond Lake's GOOD TIME Theatre and it was a GOOD time! 13 incredible acts all took to the stage to battle it out at the mic for $500 and the right to open The Big O Music Fest this Saturday at Reids Orchard. Our four judges (Mike Spurgeon from Henderson Chevrolet, Melanie Leach from Townsquare Media, Steve Terry from The Big O Music Fest, and WBKR's very own Barb Birgy) had the daunting task of picking a winner in front of a near-capacity crowd. But, the final group of the night, Muhlenberg County's MUDD RIVER UNION, made the judges' job easy. They not only won the judges' votes, they took command of the crowd and won their hearts and votes as well!
