It's March 30, 1998. The entire nation is lamenting the news that gasoline prices are once again on the rise after peaking 10 days ago at $1.07!!!! Katie bar the door! Anarchy, I tell ya, anarchy!

It really wasn't the most attractive basketball game you'll ever see. But it was a good one. Bluegrass Armageddon between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals lived up to the billing.

FacebookWBKR General Sales Manager Traci Davis came to me and told me that this morning, while she was in her office, she heard a thud, like something had hit the window. Sure enough, a bird had flown into it. But it wasn't just any bird. It was a cardinal. She took that as an omen.

The final score, 82-70, is hardly indicative of the beatdown Kentucky put on Baylor in Sunday's South Regional Final in Atlanta.

Breathtaking. It's corny, but I couldn't think of anything else to say. Kentucky's 102-90 win over Indiana last night, at times, simply took my breath away. 192 points were scored in a game that only featured 14 turnovers. That is flat-out unbelievable! Seriously, it's a shame that someone had to lose.

Syracuse, Ohio State, Louisville, and Florida all punched their tickets to the Elite Eight last night. Who will join them tonight? Make your picks and we'll find out tonight if you are right. You couldn't possibly do any worse than I did last night.

In a basketball-lovin' world, we are all deeply entrenched in March Madness mania--so much so, that I immediately knew what was about to happen the minute I walked up the sidewalk this morning.

Here I was, having some dinner, watching Western take on Mississippi Valley State in the first of four NCAA Tournament play-in games. And, with all due respect to my Hilltoppers, it was some of the worst basketball I have ever seen. I was beginning to wonder what the record was for most turnovers in a game. But then...

Even the President of the United States catches March Madness. It was confirmed tonight President Obama AND British Prime Minister David Cameron will attend the first play-in game of the tournament in Dayton, Ohio, which just happens to be between Western Kentucky University (GO TOPS!) and Mississippi Valley State.

I don't how it happened, but "March Madness" snuck up on me this year. This week, I received at least three email invitations and one Facebook message to get in on an NCAA pool. The good thing about joining an online pool is, you usually don't have to make a monetary investment and you can win some sweet prizes, including money. But isn't spending money to make money the honorable thing

It's a good thing I have a smart phone or I wouldn't have seen the breaking news on Twitter. #9 Murray State was the last undefeated team in the country. Thursday night, Tennessee State beat the Racers at home 72-68, proving the Ohio Valley Conference is no joke.
