Owensboro Bourbon And Jazz Festival This Weekend

Bourbon is a Kentucky staple and this weekend, Owensboro rolls out the red carpet for all kinds of libation happenings. The very first Bourbon & Jazz Festival kicks off tonight during "Friday After Five" with a VIP Cocktail Reception in Woodward's 6p-10p with live music courtesy of Barbara Santora and her band "Jazzin". An after hours mixer will be held at Kentucky's only bourbon bar, Spirits, located in the Miller House at 301 East 5th St. 10p-12a. President Abraham Lincoln's time in Indiana has been dramatized in many forms for twenty-five years at Lincoln Ampitheatre in Perry County. When the ampitheatre's construction was completed in 1987, the play Young Abe Lincoln was staged there for the first time. In 2009, LINCOLN: Upon the Altar of Freedom was produced in honor of Lincoln's 200th birthday. Now a new two-act musical play, which will incorporate several of the area's young actors, makes its World Premiere this weekend.
