Chad & Dave Tackle the New Playground at Smothers Park [Video]

Last weekend, the City of Owensboro unveiled the all-new Smothers Park downtown! And thousands of people flocked to Veteran's Boulevard to check out the new riverfront at Friday After Five and Saturday during the Owensboro Air Show. Dave Spencer and I were there overgrand-opening weekend as well, broadcasting live and chatting with folks about the exciting downtown improvements. But, it didn't take us long standing in the cool new playground at Smothers Park to realize we wanted in on the action too. And, after watching some little kids fly out of one slide in particular, we knew it was on!

The public is getting its first official look at the newly redesigned and reopened Smothers Park this weekend. The park was officially unveiled last night during a special edition of Friday After Five! Today, folks are invited downtown to see the new park, then turn their eyes to the sky! The Owensboro Air Show is ready to soar into action!!

We are just a couple of weeks away from the grand opening of the all-new Smothers Park in downtown Owensboro. Renovation and redesign of this park is a centerpiece of the efforts to revitalize the Owensboro riverfront and it will be officially unveilved August 23rd through the 25th! But, thanks to Owensboro Parent, we have been given a SNEAK PEAK into what the new park looks like and the features it has in store. This is VERY cool! So, come on! Take a look. Friday After 5 Kicks Off Its 17th Season

If you missed on the International Barbeque Festival, don't fret, one of Owensboro's other long-running traditions kicks off tonight. Friday After 5, in its 17th season, will run 17 weeks beginning tonight, May 18th and run through September 7th. It's the longest season run ever for the weekly free festival. The award-winning festival will feature new bands, act as the host for new festivals, and will celebrate the opening of Owensboro's all-new Riverfront.
