Well, I think we're all starting to agree that when it comes to the number of years college basketball players should stay in school, "1" is definitely NOT the magic number. Yes, Kentucky just won the National Championship with a trio of freshmen in the starting lineup. Still, everywhere I turn, just like potato chips, ONE is not enough.

Well, that didn't take long. I was in Wal-mart last night and overheard a man and a woman talking about Kentucky's victory in the championship game when the conversation segued into speculation about whether or not Coach John Calipari was going to stick around.

Recently, I wrote about how Kentucky basketball is hated by some as strongly as it is loved by many. For several years, I've known people who simply didn't like the 'Cats at all. After writing the piece, I learned that it's the fans that are the biggest turn-off. Not all the fans, obviously, but enough of them.

It's been 14 years and 3 coaches since the Kentucky Wildcats last hoisted the gold trophy. On center stage in New Orleans' Superdome last night, they did it again:

It's March 30, 1998. The entire nation is lamenting the news that gasoline prices are once again on the rise after peaking 10 days ago at $1.07!!!! Katie bar the door! Anarchy, I tell ya, anarchy!

Maybe Bob Knight is just tired. Maybe the legendary former Indiana basketball coach has simply worn himself out trying to find ways to avoid mentioning Kentucky during their tournament run.

It really wasn't the most attractive basketball game you'll ever see. But it was a good one. Bluegrass Armageddon between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals lived up to the billing.

FacebookWBKR General Sales Manager Traci Davis came to me and told me that this morning, while she was in her office, she heard a thud, like something had hit the window. Sure enough, a bird had flown into it. But it wasn't just any bird. It was a cardinal. She took that as an omen.

The final score, 82-70, is hardly indicative of the beatdown Kentucky put on Baylor in Sunday's South Regional Final in Atlanta.

Breathtaking. It's corny, but I couldn't think of anything else to say. Kentucky's 102-90 win over Indiana last night, at times, simply took my breath away. 192 points were scored in a game that only featured 14 turnovers. That is flat-out unbelievable! Seriously, it's a shame that someone had to lose.

In a basketball-lovin' world, we are all deeply entrenched in March Madness mania--so much so, that I immediately knew what was about to happen the minute I walked up the sidewalk this morning.

It was a week ago tonight that I said, on Facebook, "If these first two games are any indication, we're in for a pretty nice tournament." I was referring to the huge comeback wins for Western Kentucky and BYU in last Tuesday's play-in games. Sure enough, the opening weekend was full of upsets. And the coming weekend will feature one doozy of a rematch.
