The Teal Pumpkin Project came together in 2014 so that children with food allergies could have a Happy Halloween and YOU play a part in making it happen! It’s really quite simple.

All you have to do is place a teal pumpkin (the color of food allergy awareness) on your porch to let children know that you have non-food items available. For children with food allergies tick-or-treating for candy isn’t an option so this allows them to dress up, hit the streets with their friends and still participate in the fun without jeopardizing their health.

If you don’t have time to paint a pumpkin teal, you can print out signage supporting the campaign at: http://www.foodallergy.org/teal-pumpkin-project/download

This way everyone will know to stop at your house to get some fun items that won't make anyone sick this Halloween!

Some great items to pass out might include: Small Coloring Books, Crayons, Glow Sticks, Bubbles or Halloween Themed Toys, for example.

Allergy & Asthma Specialists, PSC in Owensboro is raising awareness with a fun contest you can take part in too!

To show support of the Teal Pumpkin Project, and to raise community awareness about food allergies, we are hosting a Teal Pumpkin Decorating contest.

You can enter our contest by:
1. Paint a pumpkin teal and decorate your pumpkin any way you want!
2. Snap a picture of your decorated pumpkin,
3. Email the picture of your decorated pumpkin to allergy@cloremd.com.

All submissions must be received by midnight October 24th. Submitted pictures will be published on our Facebook Page. How will we choose a winner? The pumpkin on our Facebook page with the most “likes” will win! Voting will begin on October 25th and will close at 5pm CDT on Thursday, October 27th. Winner will be announced on our Facebook page Friday, October 28th! Winner will receive a t-shirt and a $50 gift certificate to Malco Theaters.
