The last time the father/daughter team of Gary and Mallory Ervin of Morganfield, Kentucky travelled the globe on CBS' The Amazing Race, they finished sixth. Last week they came in last and would have finished sixth again, but it was a non-elimination leg so they were still in it. But that dreaded sixth place finish was once again on the table Sunday night.

And thanks to an Austrian cab driver who didn't seem to understand Mallory's frantic requests to go fast--actually, he wasn't even moving the vehicle--it looked like the home team might come up short yet again. On Sunday night's episode, Gary and Mallory were faced with a "Speed Bump." That's an extra challenge a team has to perform in the leg of the race that follows the one in which they finished last, if it's a non-elimination.  Thankfully, Gary was fast on his feet with the math skills, and he and Mallory quickly created a gas/oil mixture that allowed them to fuel up a motorized bicycle that would carry them across the entire length of Liechtenstein, one of the world's tiniest countries. After that, it was fairly smooth sailing and they finished fourth. Congratulations to Gary and Mallory for getting over a hump and making the Top 5! Now, let's hope, in the end, they make the Top 1.
