The quilt. It's the best comfort a person can ever have. Okay, that's a little bit of over kill, but I love quilts in the Fall and in the Winter.

When I am thinking about what to write each day, I take a minute and I look around me. Sure, I was all covered up on my couch, but I thought to myself I should write about this quilt. My Dad's mother, Mamaw to me and my cousins, she loved to quilt and her mother, my Mamaw Brown, loved to quilt. And my cousin Carol, she really loves to quilt too. See a pattern here? The quilt pictured here is one my Mamaw made. It's huge and it's warm, and it's been in my family roughly 30 years. I remember seeing all the quilts out my Mamaw was working on around her and my Papaw's house.  All the grandchildren received a baby quilt. I think mine is still around, but it's really tattered. I slept with two quilts growing up, Mamaw's and one that was a baby gift from one of my Mom's co-workers. I think my sister's is still intact, and she gave it to my niece. I love the opposite of my big quilt.

It's soft and its pattern has all these light pastel colors. In other words, this is the complete quilt. I actually have two quilts at my apartment, this one and another Mamaw creation, it's thinner, I cover up with when it's warmer outside. The big fluffy quilt comes out when it's chilly or it makes a nice seat on the ground. I'm cold natured, so I need the big quilt. My friends can't believe that even in the dog days of summer, I have to have substantial cover, not just the sheet, never just the sheet. It doesn't feel right. I think I'm the only one in my family who never complains when the heat has to be turned up. I guess I have a little bit of Linus in me; I like the security of a blanket, but I don't always have to tote it around.

It's comfort I can always count on. What about you?
