What did she say? If you have been watching 'The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story' on FX, and you caught the very last frame of Tuesday night's episode, Sarah Paulson who plays lead prosecutor Marcia Clark uttered a dirty word that I thought even in basic cable was forbidden. I was wrong and I was shocked. Me being shocked is extremely rare.

This is a promo of the third episode, and obviously, it doesn't contain the clip.

Clark's frustration over reading Simpson's "Dream Team" would be rounded out by Johnnie Cochran (Courtney B. Vance), she says oh boy (not that) at the very end of the episode. WHAT? Right after the episode, I checked Twitter and I only saw one TV critic say something about it. It turns out, basic cable networks, like FX, Comedy Central, AMC can essentially say and do whatever they want because they are not regulated by the FCC like the big five networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and The CW) are. However in general, basic cable likes to keep its programming in the PG-PG 13 zone; not in this case.

This is the first time I've ever heard this word in a primetime basic cable show. Comedy Central airs uncensored stand-up specials, roasts after midnight with the racy language intact which is still shocking to hear, even at 1 in the morning. The first run/censored versions usually air in primetime. The s-word is prevalent is a lot of basic cable shows these days too.

What do you think? Is basic cable pushing it too far?
