The Pitino Shelter is a wonderful facility here in Owensboro that houses homeless individuals and families, in attempts to transition them to permanent housing. They are always eager for volunteers to come help out by donating their time, money or products. Here is the latest list of items needed for the residents at The Pitino Shelter:

• canned goods

• diapers (all sizes)

• towels and washcloths

• blankets

• pillows and pillowcases

• sheets (twin and full)

• soap

• shampoo

• deodorant

• feminine hygiene products

• laundry detergent

If you have any questions about helping out or would like to volunteer, contact Charlotte at 270-688-9000. The Pitino Shelter also has the Saint Stephen Cathedral Soup Kitchen. The kitchen opens at 8:00 am for doughnuts and coffee and serves hot meals at 11:00 am Monday thru Saturday. It opens at 12:00 noon on Sunday for doughnuts and coffee. A hot meal is served at 2:00 pm. Meals are served 365 days per year.
