Sometimes in life we are reminded of what is truly important, and that sports, while providing fans with entertainment and an outlet for their passion, is just that -  entertainment. Sadly, such incidents seem to occur more frequently than they used to. Yet another one of these senseless, tragic events took place Saturday evening involving one of NASCAR's biggest stars, Tony Stewart.

Various reports indicate that Stewart struck and killed 20-year old racer, Kevin Ward, as Ward walked towards Stewart's vehicle after the two were involved in an incident while racing at Canandaigua MotorSports Park. Stewart, who was scheduled to race in the Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glenn on Sunday, released a statement saying, "Words cannot express my sadness over the incident that took the life of Kevin Ward, Jr."  Stewart did not race on Sunday. Authorities have indicated that at this point, no criminal charges will be filed. However, the investigation is on going.  We will provide updates as news warrants.
