Train Collides With SUV in Owensboro

 On Thursday around 3:20 p.m., the Owensboro Police Department responded to an "accident with injuries" call at the intersection of West 8th  Street and Maple Street. The accident involved a  CSX train and a SUV. The SUV was traveling south on Maple Street from W. 8th   Street and collided with the train at the railroad crossing. That collision sent the vehicle off the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for evaluation. Due to the accident, the train was stopped for approximately one hour and 40 minutes, causing multiple roads to be blocked.

Dave Spencer was out on the road and reported that his mother was sitting in traffic during the incident.  Everything turned out to be okay with her as she sat in line.  She had a book to keep her company.
