Tyler Farr’s Venison Cube Steak Recipe
We love the Big Green Egg for sure, and it never ceases to amaze me what people can and WILL cook on this thing. I've seen a pizza made on this and it was delicious. Tyler Farr has his own recipe for the Big Green Egg and it looks pretty tasty.
We definitely aren't calling Tyler redneck crazy for coming up with this recipe because we are interested!
2 pounds venison cube steak
2 cans Diet Coke
One half teaspoon garlic powder
One halfteaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
One quarter cup prepared mustard
1 cup flour
2 cups vegetable oil
AND THE FUN BEGINS!!
Put your cubed venison steaks into a large bowl and cover them all with the diet coke. You can use multiple steaks at the same time but be sure to cover the meat completely with the liquid before adding more venison to the bowl. After an hour you have to turn the venison. Flip the venison steaks inside of the bowl and let it sit for another hour, Tyler says that overnight works as well.
So we have the steaks, and we are ready to season them. After you take the steaks out of the bowl and dab them dry with a paper towel, it's time to start seasoning these babies. Use the salt, pepper and garlic pepper. After that, you can coat each one of the steaks with the prepared mustard and then put them in flour for 10 minutes each.
Set the EGG at 350°F/177°C.
Tyler suggests a dutch oven or a cast iron skillet to be heated for approximately 5 minutes. Add the vegetable oil and allow it to heat. Add the venison in a single layer, and flip when the batter turns brown around the edges. The venison cube steaks should cook for about three minutes on both sides.
And there you have it!
