Cardinal Nation will be represented in Rio. 4-time NCAA champ and American record holder in the 100m butterfly Kelsi Worrell won the race Monday night in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Worrell is the first U of L American swimmer ever to qualify for the Olympics.

Worrell defeated 2012 Olympic gold medalist and American record holder Dana Vollmer. Worrell's time of 56.48 is the second-fastest in the world this year which will highten her medal chances in Rio De Janeiro. She will also be a member of the U.S. medley relay team.

Worrell is just the second Louisville Olympian athlete to make the trip to the summer games. Women's Basketball star Angel McCoughtry won gold with the U.S. team in London.
