UK Could Face Its Stiffest Test of the Season Thus Far Against the Texas Longhorns
It's the game I've anticipated the most since the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats' schedule was released. A match-up with the 6th-ranked Texas Longhorns is a rare tilt for UK.
And I mean that literally. The last time the 'Cats locked horns WITH the 'Horns was 21 years ago in a game Kentucky won handily 86-61.
That is the only time UK and Texas have ever played.
The rematch is set for Friday night at Rupp Arena in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. And I can't wait.
I love it when big teams that don't normally schedule each other hook up in the non-conference.
This should be a great game. The Longhorns bring with them depth, talent, athleticism, and versatility. Sound familiar?
Kentucky does have just a little more depth, but based on what I've seen from Texas--that includes an impressive road win at Connecticut--this could be Kentucky's toughest game to date.
Now, watch Coach John Calipari talk about the game and his very good friend, Texas Longhorns head coach Rick Barnes:
