If you follow John Calipari on Twitter, you know he's as active a participant on the popular social media site as the next guy.

So active, in fact, that Sports Illustrated has recognized Coach Cal on its list of the 100 Twitter accounts it calls "the most essential to your daily routine for finding news, information and entertainment around the world."

It's called the Twitter 100.

With more than 1.2 million followers, it's hardly surprising that Calipari made this list, which also includes the likes of LeBron James, Dick Vitale, Shaquille O'Neal, Samuel L. Jackson, among many, many others.

I follow Coach Cal. He's a master promoter. He's always congratulating this person or wishing that person well or encouraging his followers to participate in any of the many charitable functions which are meaningful to him. And there are a LOT of them.

Employees of both Sports Illustrated and sportsillustrated.com were polled and that's how the list was composed. Each member's entry comes with a quote from SI. Here's the one for John Calipari:

"It should come as little surprise that it’s the Wildcats’ fearless leader who reigns supreme among hoops coaches in the Twitter arena. With more than a million followers, Calipari has used the platform to rally Wildcats faithful (often via hashtag #BBN), give updates on his program and show off his famous friends (among them Drake and rapper-turned-sports-agent Jay-Z)."

Calipari was the only college hoops coach to make the list.
