Registrations for the 2013 WBKR Zombie Run are still underway online, but, at this point, it is better to register on site tonight at Legion Park. And, the earlier you register, the better chance you have of securing yourself an official zombie run t-shirt courtesy of Central Screen Printing by CLICKING HERE!
The fee for runners is $25 per person.
Folks wanting to sign up for the Zombie Run can do so in front of the Legion Park shelter that faces the Owensboro Country Club. Registration will be open from 6pm to 9pm CST the evening of Sept. 27th. But registration on the night of the event does NOT guarantee you an official event t-shirt. That’s why the “earlier the better” motto is in play.
Everyone who has pre-registered for the event is also asked to report to Legion Park for check-in. Runners will be able to collect their t-shirts and flags that evening (during that same time frame) as well. Lines will be divided alphabetically for ease and efficiency.
If you have pre-registered as a zombie, you will need to pick up your zombie make-up kit at the WBKR studios by Noon on Friday (the 27th). Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
We ask that all zombies meet at the Legion Park shelter (same one mentioned above) no later than 8pm CST the night of the 27th. And we ask that you arrive completely zombie-fied! Shortly after your arrival, our zombies will parade up Byers Avenue and onto the Greenbelt where we will await our prey!
While the zombies are getting set for attack, our runners will be warming up to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in an exciting Zumba routine led by Jessica Fleischmann.
We’re gonna get your blood pumping so the zombies can smell it! LOL! This will take place approximately 9:30pm in front of the Legion Park shelter.
Runners, your official starting line will be in front of Legion Park on Byers Avenue. You will proceed on Byers, then take a right across the bridge and onto the Greenbelt. You will follow along the Greenbelt until you reach J.R. Miller Boulevard, which will lead you back to Legion Park. After turning right onto Byers, you will enter Legion Park through the main parking lot, then proceed to the right onto the running trail until you reach the finish line.
At the start of the race, each runner will be outfitted with four flags to wear around his/her waist. These flags, or lifelines, will be what the zombies are trying to rip from your flesh on the course. Runners who wish to purchase additional flags (or lifelines) can do so at Legion Park the night of the race.
Runners who finish with at least one flag or lifeline will be eligible to win prizes from Holiday World, The Old Courthouse Catacombs and The House of Lecter and additional sponsors. Our top male and female finishers will be awarded an assortment of body parts (or trophies).
Zombies will also be eligible for prizes. The legion of undead will be rewarded for how many flags or lifelines they are able to capture from the living!
The theme of the 2013 WBKR Zombie Run is “Stay Ahead of the Pack” and here’s a quick look at the secret history of this area of town where our run is taking place.

WBKR is pleased to present the 2013 Zombie Run and we could not do it without our sponsors: The Owensboro Family YMCA and The Olde Courthouse Catacombs and The House of Lecter. We would also like to thank our official water sponsor- Henderson Chevy Buick GMC.
And we have to extend a huge THANK YOU to Tim Ross and the City of Owensboro for their full support of our event.
We’ll see you TONIGHT at the WBKR Zombie Run. And, whatever you do . . . STAY AHEAD OF THE PACK!!
