Yes, indeed, we are talking about the first ever production model of the "Flying Car."  I would imagine that flight classes would be nearly as expensive as the down payment on the flying car conversion.

Now the Mclaren you saw on the homepage isn't exactly the car they will be using to convert into an airplane, but I would love to see that thing with wings.  And I believe it's just aerodynamic enough to pull the job off.

The nut case is named Phil Mateer and he was performing an air show in this thing.  As he was flying around where all could see this incredible creation, the announcer said, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the most incredible things we've seen, ever, here at Oshkosh.  Twenty-five minutes ago, this was a street-legal automobile.  Now, it's in the air."

Certainly they aren't talking about conversion time.  It had better be taking more than twenty five minutes to turn this from a car to an airplane.  I believe they meant it showed up off the street, put it's wings down, and then took off.  I'd be wanting at least a 2 month conversion, and then an additional 6 months to overlook everything to make sure they didn't screw anything up.

Pricing:

Yes, it's expensive, but it's cheaper than a private jet and YOU CAN DRIVE IT ON THE ROAD, TOO.  Over 100 people have put down payments on this scary decision, and the down payment is ten stacks.  That's just the down payment.  Then you have to put money into it after that.  $279,000 to be exact.
