Western Kentucky Part of Worst Bird Flu Outbreak in Two Years

What's being called the largest bird flu outbreak since 2015 has expanded from southern Tennessee, where it was first detected, into northern Alabama and western Kentucky.

Phys.org says that, after talking with an Auburn University science professor, it's not known for sure if the usual steps taken like travel bans, quarantines, and mass killings will be enough to stop the spread.

So far, more than 200,000 infected birds have been put down, including 22,000 hens in western Kentucky, according to the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

I guess the good news is that none of the infected birds have put the nation's food chain at risk.
