When a county-wide vote was held in April, both of Hartford's precincts votes YES on going wet. The Ohio County vote fell through, but Hartford will get its own wet/dry vote in January.

In February, the city of Beaver Dam voted to go wet and alcohol sales have recently gone beyond packaged liquor for the first time. The only other city to hold a wet/dry vote was Rockport, they voted NO. A petition to get a Hartford vote had been circulating since the county voted against going wet.

At Monday night's Ohio County Fiscal Court meeting, Judge-Executive David Johnston announced he and County Clerk Bess Ralph had verified the required number of signatures for the local option election. Only two precincts will vote on January 24th. McHenry, Centertown, and Fordsville have yet to submit an alcohol sales vote petition. A country-wide vote can not be held for another three years.
