On July 18th, an era will end here in the tri-state.  Ann Komis, beloved news anchor at 14 WFIE, says that will be her final day behind the desk and in front of the camera.  Earlier today, she announced her retirement to her Facebook friends.  Here's what she had to say.

Ann's official announcement from Facebook:

To my Facebook Friends:
A special day in my life is coming up soon. I’m retiring! Friday July 18th is my last day here at 14 News. I thought it time to tell you, since I have been telling strangers in the grocery store for a couple of months now. And I can’t tell you how excited I am to start a new and hopefully adventuresome chapter in my life. I plan to have as few deadlines as possible. And my husband and I will travel, but only in the months of February, May, July and November! LOL! That’s an inside joke. Those are the ratings or sweeps months that have ruled my life for 40 some years.

But don’t get me wrong. I have loved this job. It’s a job I still can’t believe I ever got. A job that allowed me to interview Presidents, celebrities, people who did extraordinary things with their lives, and people who inspired me like the men and women who march every year on a Saturday in September to the stage for Race for the Cure.
My Dad once told me not to confuse where I work with where I live. Well, Dad, I didn’t follow your advice. And I lived where I worked. It worked out for me because I work with some amazingly talented people. I couldn’t have done this job without them. Dad, I made some wonderful friends along the way.
Some very talented and hard working people will step in once I’m gone. I can’t tell you who, but I know you will love them….SO, as they say in the trade, STAY TUNED!

Ann Komis joined WFIE in 1985 and has reported news in the tri-state for nearly 30 years.  She, most definitely, will be missed!
