What I Really Do With Carsyn’s Artwork

Remember how exciting it was when you child first started going to pre-school and they would bring home cute artwork from their school day? I think I seriously kept every single piece of paper that Carsyn brought home from Settle Memorial Pre-School for the first several months. Then I started to realize something... What am I going to do with all of this stuff she brings home? This is just pre-school, she'll be in school for 12 more years! What am I going to do with 12 years of stuff?

Well, I figured out what to do with it...

Throw it in the trash. Gasp! Did that terrible mother just say she throws away her child's school work? Yep, yep, she did.

Look, I did feel bad about it for a day or two, but let's be real. You just can't keep it all. And, why would you want to? Now, I do keep several pieces of artwork from each school year for her binder of things to look back on when she's older. And, I keep a homework assignment every now and then, so we can look back and see the progression of her education. But, there is just no reason, in my opinion, to keep every single scribble and St. Patrick's Day art project.

I do have an exception... Patriotic pieces. Those go to the fridge, in rotation. I like daily reminders of freedom, for her and me.

So, there you have it. I throw away daily homework assignments and art projects that just don't make the cut. And, I'm finally at the point where I don't feel bad about it, ha. Surely, I can't be alone here.
