Well the ice has made another appearance this year. Thankfully the road crews in the area have done a great job getting the roads ready and keeping them clear. However there are still several areas out there where travel is not so easy.

According to our friends at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, there have been numerous wrecks across the state, and the Cabinet would like to remind motorists of the following:

  • Exercise greater caution when driving. Slow down!
    • Be prepared for slick conditions.
    • Give a wide berth to snow plows and other heavy highway equipment.
    • Eliminate distractions while behind the wheel.

They also want to pass along that you can get condition reports on major routes by calling 511 or by clicking here.

Also, our friends at the Owensboro Police Department would like to pass a message along as well:

The Owensboro Police Department is now reporting that roadway conditions are beginning to improve. We continue to ask that drivers remain cautious, and drive with care, especially on secondary roadways and parking lots. Please keep in mind that with wet conditions and anticipated falling temperatures this evening, icing may still be a hazard.

Please take extra caution if you have to be out today and remember to watch out for your fellow drivers! Also if you would like to read more winter driving tips, click here!
