National Dessert Day was yesterday and I missed it. I guess it's just well. All I have around here is a bag of ginger snaps.

But, hey, why can't EVERYDAY be National Dessert Day?

I have Trip Advisor's recommendations for the best places for desserts in Owensboro. (Of course, they're chosen by YOU, the Trip Advisor user.)

National Dessert Day, Schmational Dessert Day. You can have great desserts ANYTIME with this list:

1. Rolling Pin Pastry Shop

An Owensboro icon. Those donuts and cakes and cookies and pastries have been baking at that 18th Street location forever, it seems. I know I don't remember a time when it wasn't there.

2. Dalisha's Desserts

Located at 1010 Allen Street, Suite 200, Dalisha's is a veritable newborn compared to Rolling Pin. But they certainly belong on THIS list, if for no other reason than their cupcakes. But, yes, there is SO MUCH MORE.

3. The Family Bakery

High marks come from Trip Advisor users for this bakery's donuts. By the way, this is listed on Trip Advisor as Diane's Bakery Delights, but it has since changed its name and is located at 3152 Commonwealth Court.

4. Cold Stone Creamery

It's almost as much fun WATCHING them slap that ice cream together on those cold stones as it is eating the ice cream itself. Cold Stone is located at 5140 Frederica Street, Suite A.

5. Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt

There are two Orange Leaf locations in Owensboro--5035 Frederica Street and at Lake Forest Town Center on Highway 54. Either way, you can't go wrong with Orange Leaf, ESPECIALLY if you mix coconut with birthday cake. Of course, I'm just speaking for experience.
