The Kentucky Headhunters have lots of fans here in the Commowealth and those fans just got some exciting news from the RiverPark Center in downtown Owensboro. Next year, the band's coming to town with Confederate Railroad for a big concert on Saturday, March 11th.

That announcement got me reminiscing about a really cool concert The Kentucky Headhunters put on a couple of years ago about a half hour from town. In 2020, the popular 90s country band rolled into the parking lot of Ohio County High School for an incredibly unique drive-in concert.

If you'll remember, in the summer of 2020, the world was still dealing with at-times crippling amounts of uncertainty about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Concert tours around the world were basically canceled. Most major concert acts decided, in the interest of public and personal safety, to put the tour buses and rigs into park. Most of them did so the remainder of the year.

However, the team at the Beaver Dam Amphitheatre decided to think outside the box and worked with The Kentucky Headhunters to stage an absolutely epic and unforgettable drive-in concert.  But it wasn't like the drive-in concerts that Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton staged- where you would show up at a drive-in movie theatre near you and watch the concert on a gigantic screen.

No, at this drive-in concert, The Kentucky Headhunters were actually there and on stage to play for the fans who rolled in, sat, socially-distanced, in bag chairs or the back of the their trucks, to watch and enjoy the show.

And, this is fun!  Jason Kempin, a country music photographer who works for Getty Images was in the crowd too.  He captured a bunch of the fun on stage and off!

Here a couple of shots of the action on stage . . .

Here are some of the photos of the crowd Jason took that night as well.  If you live in or near Ohio County, Kentucky, it's entirely possible you will recognize some of the folks in these pics.
