College Bowl Games Set for Kentucky, Louisville, and WKU
There was no doubt UK, Louisville, and WKU would all be going to a bowl game this year. All three earned the minimum number of wins (6) to qualify. Let's see where they all are landing for their match-ups.
Western Kentucky University finished the season 8-4 under new head coach and former Tennessee assistant Tyson Helton. They finished second in the east division of Conference-USA. Their opponent is familiar with the postseason spotlight, the Broncos of Western Michigan.
WKU will take on Western Michigan in the First Responder Bowl in Dallas on Monday, December 30th at 11:30 a.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN.
The University of Louisville football team missed a bowl game last year for the first time since 2010. They will back, this time in Nashville. Louisville was victorious in their first Music City Bowl back in 2015, defeating Texas A&M 27-21.
The Cardinals will take on Mississippi State in the Music City Bowl on Monday, December 30th at 3:00 p.m. CT and it will more than likely air following WKU's game on ESPN. Louisville finished the season with a 7-5 record.
Coach Mark Stoops' Kentucky Wildcat team fell into a slump following wins in their first two games. They lost their starting quarterback, Terry Wilson, Jr. in the Cats' second game of the season against Eastern Michigan. After multiple starters stepped in, the Cats named all-purpose player, mostly wide receiver, Lynn Bowden, Jr. as their starting quarterback. The Cats went on to win 5 of 7 culminating in an overall 7-5 record.
Kentucky will take on Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday, December 31st at 11:00 a.m. CT. The match-up will air on ESPN.
