There is always a storm brewing on the internet. People have differing opinions on a lot of things, and the world wide web seems to be the place to take all of your issues to get worked out.

There are many different opinions when it comes to mixing business and family. There are legacy days in America, such as bring your son to work day, that allow for your kids to see what you do.

But one woman has the internet divided after something happened at a business event for female entrepreneurs.

Woman Asked to Leave Business Event Because Her Baby Made a Noise

Elena Brandt says she was asked to leave a talk at a Y Combinator conference because her baby was cooing. Brandt is a business owner who went to a conference with all-female business owners, and she had to bring her baby with her.

After posting about the disappointing incident on LinkedIn, Brandt spoke with Business Insider further about the experience.

Brandt said, "Y Combinator is a big deal in the startup world, and I was eager to be inspired by other female founders."

Brandt is a mother of four, and as a small business owner, she wanted to attend the conference and thought she could bring her 6 month old with her.

She was comforted by the fact that the conference was centered around female empowerment and included a talk about nursing and pregnancy while trying to grow a business.

Brandt was excited to be able to bring her baby, Darwin, with her to the event. "I thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and wondered whether Darwin would make any baby friends," she said. "I expected babies would not only be welcomed but celebrated."

She was mistaken, as she soon saw that she was the only person who brought a baby to the conference.

"I listened to Tracy Young, a mom and founder, talk about her mothering experience while starting a business," Brandt said. "She discussed pumping before investment meetings and the other very physical, biological challenges of being a founder with an infant."

Brandt thought everything was going smoothly, even though she thought it was awkward that Darwin was the only kid in the whole room.

"Darwin was in a stroller, and I was rocking him back and forth to sleep. When he started babbling and cooing, I moved to the back of the room," she said. "That's when someone approached me and said, 'Would you like to stroll your baby outside? I want people to get the full experience out of this conference.'"

Brandt was floored that this happened to her at that particular event.

The mother said, "To me, that's ridiculous. To ask me to leave with a quietly cooing baby during a talk that was explicitly about the challenges of being a mother and founder was shocking."

Brandt said she is a firm believer that babies and business should not have to be separated, but was let down by the fact that they still are, even at this type of conference.
