Whether it be pumpkin patches, fall festivals, corn mazes, camping, or bonfires, you name it, we have it here in the area. However, one place stands out in terms of encapsulating fall family fun in the state.
The travel website, Love Exploring found the best fall attraction in each state. From pumpkin patches to prime leaf-peeping spots, and massive festivals to popular farms, this list has a little bit of everything when it comes to fall fun. But what fall attraction was named the best in the Hoosier State?
This is the Best Fall Attraction in Indiana
Indiana has it all when it comes to fall attractions. We have a few festivals that happen every fall throughout the state that bring in hundreds of thousands of people. One of those festivals was chosen by Love Exploring as the best fall attraction in Indiana. If you guessed the Covered Bridge Festival...you're incorrect. In fact, Love Exploring chose a festival in southern Indiana that folks in the area have been flocking to for over 100 years!
The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival was named the best fall attraction in Indiana. If you don't live in southern Indiana, the annual Fall Festival in Evansville is a weeklong event that has taken place on Franklin Street on the City's west side during the first full week of October every year since 1921. It's organized by the West Side Nut Club, a non-profit group that distributes the proceeds from the festival and other fundraising events it hosts during the year to local schools and other non-profits, as well as using it to fund community projects it creates.
For those of us who live here, like myself, at least one trip to the festival during the week is a requirement. Why? Because of the food! Over 100 local non-profits are lined along Franklin Street serving up some delicious and unique foods that you can only get your hands on once a year during the Fall Festival. On top of the food booths, there are also rides and games for the whole family to enjoy!
Here's what Love Exploring had to say about the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival:
Dubbing itself one of the largest street festivals in the United States, the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival in Evansville draws in a whopping 200,000 people each year. There are rides galore, from gentle carousels for the kids to heart-pumping thrill rides for older family members. Parades – including one for pampered pets – and a huge tug of war session are fun for families too, while street-food carts ensure no-one goes hungry.
It's hard to disagree with Love Exploring. If you have ever been to the Fall Festival, you know how big and awesome it is. While there are a lot of other great fall attractions throughout the state that you should certainly visit, the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival deserves to be at the top of your list!
