KY St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store Will No Longer Accept These 8 Items
St. Vincent de Paul has announced that their thrift stores will no longer be taking donations of certain items that they have previously accepted.
"Effective Immediately"
While scrolling through Facebook earlier, I saw a post from St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Henderson, Kentucky announcing changes to their donation policy "effective immediately," and as the resident thrifter in the the office, I feel like it's my duty and obligation to share the latest thrift store news with you.
Thrifting Always Means Great Finds
What began as a teen out of necessity has turned into something more akin to a passion. I love shopping in thrift stores. You never know what you are going to find, always making it an adventure. It's sort of like a grown up treasure hunt. Plus, I can almost always find cool clothes at a fraction of regular retail.
Benefits of Shopping Secondhand
Aside from the thrill of the hunt and saving some major cash, thrifting carries with it some other great benefits as well. By shopping secondhand, I'm helping to keep textile waste out of landfills making it an eco-friendly option. It's also a great way to help a number of non-profits continue their missions - like St. Vincent de Paul.
Who Is St. Vincent de Paul and Who Do They Help
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a catholic organization that strives to "embrace the world in a network of charity." One of the ways the organization does this is through its thrift stores. With locations all across the country, including here in Evansville, Indiana and Henderson, Kentucky, St. Vincent de Paul stores serve those in need, including resources for those who cannot afford the things they need.
St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores throughout the United States are an association of lay employees and volunteers dedicated to serve our needy sisters and brothers. All who come to our thrift store are welcomed with dignity and respect. We hope they leave as friends to shop with us again. Those who cannot afford the clothing, furniture and other household items they need, will be provided for through a Vincentian initiated referral system. - St Vincent de Paul - Evansville
The next time you clean out your closet and you're looking to make a donation, this may be a good place for you to send those things you no longer want or need. However, before you donate, there are some things that St. Vincent de Paul will no longer accept.
